Question: Do coffee beans ever go bad? i found 2 bags of valve-sealed bags from years ago. is it still good to make?

I forgot about these bags, they are still in the box and in the valve- sealed bags. I assume that they will not be as flavorful as they once would have been but would it be harmful to use them? They have been stored at room temp this entire time. |

This has been asked before As long as there is no mold on the beans you will be fine, if they are whole beans then rinse them and then freeze what you do not use, this will help maintain what is left with in the bean. (by the way) if it is ground beans, you will still be fine, but freeze them any way. coffee in a sealed container will last for 2 years easy, and can even sit on a shelf for as long before being opened. as this is Starbucks, well you can pep it up by double brewing the pot, (standard drip maker) make it once then pour it back in again will make it stronger as well. |

It should be fine. Just make sure they don't smell funky... also DO NOT freeze your coffee; when you freeze coffee beans and take them out of the freezer, condensation can form on your beans and condensation is baaaad. |

Ah!! Chuck em! I mean, they probably won't harm your health but they'll make an absolutely disgusting cup of joe. I'd throw those, get a new bag, and enjoy a fresh, flavourful coffee = ) |

Coffee beans can be stored for years if green and stored properly. Once roasted they go stale quickly (usually around 2 weeks or less). By now any oils in the bean would be rancid & it would taste terrible. Just throw it away. A bag of coffee will cost around $10 or less. No amount of money will make you forget the horrendous taste of coffee roasted during the Bush administration. (: I buy green coffee and roast it in doses I can go through in about a week so it's always fresh. |
