Can i get the caffeine from sucking on coffee beans?

Question: Can i get the caffeine from sucking on coffee beans?

(Posted by: on 2010-04-25 19:27:43)

I never have time in the morning to make coffee, and am wondering if i suck on the coffee beans, if I can get the caffeine from them into my system. I currently have a big bag of 100 % columbian roasted coffee beans. How many beans should I suck to equal the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee if this can be possible.

Yes, when I was in the Army we sometimes would eat coffee to keep us up. We didn't have coffee beans but we would eat the packages of coffee from MRE's. It's terrible though. I'm not sure how many beans to suck to equal a cup of coffee. Good luck!

Eat some chocolate covered coffee beans.

Yes, but it's the least efficient way to get to it. Even if you ate the beans you'd only get a small percentage of the caffeine in them. Since there's no exact amount of caffeine in coffee and you'd only get 1-3% of the caffeine that would be released in brewing, I would guess you'd need to suck on 100-200 beans or eat 30-50 beans to get the caffeine in a regular brewed coffee. You'll get more (and enjoy it more) by eating a few ounces of dark chocolate. 5-6oz of dark chocolate has about a much caffeine as an average cup of coffee.
