Question: Why would a person drink coffee even when they are not working or studying?

In other words, since coffee is more of a beverage for increasing productivity, either mentally or physically, if one is relaxing how does a stimulant that makes them more anxious or antsy help them?

It doesn't, but caffeine is addictive so some people just feel like they need a fix.

Either because it tastes good or you just feel sluggish...you don't have to be doing anothing to not want to feel sluggish

If you drink coffee daily your system builds up a tolerance to the anxious and antsy feelings you describe. I drink pepsi max every day, about 2 cans. If I don't drink it for a day or two I feel yucky and tired. Then when I drink it again the first time I feel energetic, after a week or so of this I just feel normal again, no extra energy. Coffee is the same way, it addicts the body to it, but you lose the percs of the hyper energetic feeling. After time you just don't feel yourself if you don't drink it.

Well, in coffee there is caffeine. everybody knows that. caffeine is a drug that speeds you up. coffee drinkers have to have their coffee everyday. real life example: my grandma has drank coffee everyday of her life for 65 years, she recently went in the hospital, she made me bring in coffee for her because she didnt have any for 2 weeks. she drank it really quick. so, some of the time, people just drink coffee because they are addicted, other times they want somthing to drink in the morning or they need the caffeine boost.

Some ppl are very different when drinking caffine. Iys really weird cuz in the mornings i drink hot coffee with my mom and it wakes me up but i never get hyper. During the day when i go to starbucks to get a mocha it calms me down but keeps me focused and i do my home work = )

Because it is a stimulant, it lifts peoples moods and makes them feel more awake which is good anytime, in my opinion.
