Question: Tea is for mugs? what the fuck?

I dont understand the joke. Tea is for mugs... I mean I thought it was hysterical for no particular reason, can someone (preferably British) explain it?

A mug is also English slang for someone who is easily cheated or is a but naive. e.g. "Dave just bought a fake Rolex thinking it was a real one, what a mug! " Mug can also mean and idiot or someone who you just plain dislike. So the joke is just a play on words really.

Tea is for mugs... Hmm erm, lol well, It is for mugs right? I drink tea in a mug? a huge mug actually. But I'm no mug! wow im really confusing myself right now :D
